Super Bowl Sunday - Huck Finn Themes

For those of you who think the "Super Bowl" is a great big 52-oz bowl of oxtail soup, and may have taken this time to go out and get Mark Twain's, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, some of the themes you may which to tackle it are:

Non-Conformity: The Price paid, the lessons learned breaking rules of the society; those rules or guidelines they erect during their journey. This will also encompass jokes, deceit and other forms of dishonesty also know as "Street-wise" knowledge.

Euphemisms: Remember these are simply SYNONYMS that alter writer, speaker, listener's image of person or thing being discussed.

"Family" - Brotherly Love        or       Father-Son Relationships   or the Community formed along the way

Othering - Dozen of the characters are degraded, put down or lowered through hierarchal constructs or through language. Refer to notes from Sept-Nov. on this topic.

Betrayal - Self explanatory

Hypocrisy of Morality -

Metaphysical or Supernatural - How do beliefs in "otherworldly" or unexplained occurrences alter characters?

So those with absolutely NO interest in The Steel Curtain battling those Cheese Heads, bored, wondering what could be done, instead.

Oh, and it's OK, grab a "super bowl" of Matzo Ball, Poblano, Miso, ****Locra de Papa, Italian Wedding or  Chicken Noodle soup, curl up to a good book or an afternoon nap.

Your choice.

Time Management: What can I do today to lighten my expectations tomorrow? Organization: Empty everything out of your bookbag, look over your Agenda. Tackle assignments in order of DUE DATE, difficulty, importance. Make a To Do List: checking off things done every so often Play: Get exercise EVERY SINGLE DAY

The moral virtues, then, are produced in us neither by nature nor against nature. Nature, indeed, prepares in us the ground for their reception, but their complete formation is the product of habit.
